Chris Thile was in the now defunct band Nickel Creek, who amiably disbanded in 2007 (much to the despair of modern folk enthusiasts everywhere). I saw them perform once and remember being impressed, but I didn’t realize what a beast this guy was on mandolin. He’s currently in Punch Brothers, a bluegrass band.
